Space2BHeard CIC and The Ellesmere Centre for Psychotherapy Training have each evolved from a single entity (The Ellesmere Centre for Psychotherapy and Training). In 2018 a decision was made to move client facing services which included Let’s Talk, Valued Minds and Remind, into a new not-for-profit Community Interest Company.

The decision to split was made for a number of reasons. Directors believed that public funding for essential services could be used without taking profit so that  maximum funding could be directed towards providing services.  Secondly, the business model had become overly complex and it was evident that by dividing the business into different entities, each with its own focus, the various areas of activity could be run more effectively. Thirdly, it was agreed that although the resulting services would essentially operate as separate businesses, we could maintain the ethos of the centre and maximise the benefits of working together as a collective.

A Strategic Partnership agreement allows us to have the best of both worlds. Two, efficient and growing business units, each with a clear focus and lines of accountability and a collective partnership working towards the mutual benefit of the partners and the stakeholders. Most importantly, the people who train with us and the people who use services.
