Hi there and welcome back to The Ellesmere Centre and our new training calendar. We are all relaxed and rested after our summer holidays and back with energy and passion for  what we believe will be an interesting and stimulating year ahead.

We have had our first foundation year training weekend which went really well. I would like to welcome these new trainees to the start of their TA counselling and psychotherapy journey and am looking forward to watching them develop and integrate as a group as they get to know each other.

Our advanced training year starts this coming weekend. Whilst we sadly say goodbye to three of our finishing 4th year trainees and one trainee who has left for the early welcome of her beautiful baby boy, we have three new trainees joining the group and a trainee returning after a year long break.

I have just spent a number of weeks preparing the centre for the new training year including a trip to IKEA in my husband’s building truck which seemed to take hours. A very painful experience for a ‘hurry up’ like me. This preparation, along with updating the handbook, has taken up quite a bit of time but I feel excited about the new training content this year and I am interested in the impact of this on the training experience.

There are also some interesting developments in the wider TA world. The Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA) has gone through a process of modernisation and is now the newly named United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis (UKATA) and renewal is due this month. I think you will find you are getting value for money these days with the competent and effective performance of the council and various committees. There is also now a revised second edition of that old favourite staple TA Today which has some new and interesting perspectives and is certainly worth a look, although this year’s reading list for both groups will certainly be a challenge.

Finally just to remind you that we have a busy and productive year ahead with our extracurricular workshops. We have a day on working with groups and a supervision training day. As usual we have a number of TA 101’s which are our energising 2 day introduction to Transactional analysis. We are also open to offering bespoke training to meet your needs so please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.

Finally our most exciting new news is a certificate in therapeutic work with children and young people starting in October. This is a wonderful opportunity to complete a carefully constructed training year in this specialised field, facilitated by experienced qualified therapists and trainers. Please see our website for more information and instructions on how to apply.
