Introduction to CBT for Psychotherapists & Counsellors is a course that has been welcomed by all who have attended so far and has now been accessed by over 90 professionals. The course is now coming to The Ellesmere Centre in Hull in Summer 2014.
Who’s it for? The course is aimed at arming and equipping counsellors, psychotherapists and all mental health professionals (support workers, GPs, OT’s etc) with the basics and beyond of CBT to enhance their skill base and level of integration of their practice.
Come and discover how to work collaboratively, with your client at the heart of what you do, within a CBT framework.
How does it work? The presenter uses lively interaction, discussion, video and small group work to present the fundamentals of true CBT.
What will I learn?
You will discover that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of good CBT.
You will learn more about the key principles of CBT and how to apply and integrate these principles into your current working practice. You will learn the top 10 things to do to create the best CBT sessions and what pitfalls to avoid.
If the course generates sufficient interest it will then lead on to a modular intermediate course. All hours offered can go toward future BABCP accreditation.
Who’s the trainer? Andy Williams is one of the visiting trainers at The Ellesmere Centre. Having spent many years in the NHS as a CBT therapist he now runs a large CBT, Transactional Analysis and EMDR practice in Leeds at The Horsforth Centre. Andy is an accredited BABCP CBT therapist as well as a PTSTA in the Transactional Analysis world.
